Nephanes is a genus of beetles from the family of dwarf beetles (Ptiliidae) within the subfamily Acrotrichinae . It occurs in Europe with two types, in Central Europe only Nephanes titanium occurs.

features

The beetles are very similar to those of the genus Pteryx , but differ in their very small physique, the pronotum , which is widest in the middle, and its obtuse posterior angle. The genus differs from the genus Acrotrichis in that the posterior angles of the pronotum are not extended to the rear and also in their extremely small and parallel bodies. The middle sections of the antennae are slightly longer than they are wide.

Occurrence and way of life

The animals live in manure, such as in dried-on cow and horse manure.
