Nero Digital is a collection of MPEG-4 compatible video and audio codecs that are integrated in the Nero Burning ROM burning suite . Nero Digital was developed by Nero AG (Germany) and Ateme (France).

Nero Digital contains two video and audio codecs, the following formats in a MP4 - file container can create:

With the exception of subtitles and chapter information, Nero Digital is fully compatible with the ISO / IEC standard. MP4 files created with Nero Digital can already be played on some DVD players (certified by Nero) and a large number of software media players. Nero also recommends its own product Nero Showtime for playback .

The Nero Digital Codecs are not supplied as DirectShow filters or VfW codecs and can therefore not be used in other audio and video editing programs.
