Nesseltal (Hasserode)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nesseltal (until 1900: Nesselthal ) is a distinctive cut in the terrain below the Schmiedeberg in the Hasserode district of Wernigerode in the Harz Mountains . The valley extends northwest from Armeleuteberg down into the Holtemme valley . A small stream flows through the Nesseltal valley, which flows into the latter not far from the Harzquerbahn . The Nesseltal once belonged to the Augustinian Ermenitenkloster Himmelpforten. The monks had created a larger pond here, which was used as a public swimming pool in the 20th century. At the end of the 1980s, the renovation of the outdoor pool began, which came to a standstill after the political change. The Hasseröder holiday park with the Brockenbad was built on the site.

The Wernigeröder fairy tale trail leads through the upper Nesseltal from the Hasseröder holiday park to the Armeleuteberg .
