The general backup power supply , AEV for short , is a power supply for selected consumers or system parts in the event of a general power supply failure. In this case, the continued supply is taken over by AEV (e.g. accumulators / batteries or emergency power generators ). The switchover is done manually or automatically. In contrast to a UPS ( uninterruptible power supply ), a brief voltage drop is possible, which can cause a light bulb to flicker or the computer to crash.
