Neuburg Church

The Evangelical Lutheran Neuburg Church was consecrated in 1779 in Neuburg , a district of the Detern community in south-west East Frisia .

history

It is still unknown when the first church was built in Amdorf. Today's church is at least the third at the place whose parish is mentioned in 1475 in a tax list of the Bishop of Münster. In 1628 the church in Amdorf collapsed after a storm. A new church was then built and consecrated on June 18, 1634. This was in a poor structural condition in the 18th century and was considered to be in danger of collapsing. In 1779 it was demolished and replaced by a rectangular hall church with pilasters and arched windows.

The tower of the parallel wall type is older and is dated to 1664.

On January 1, 1975, the previously independent parishes, each with their own places of worship in Amdorf and Neuburg, united to form the parish of Amdorf / Neuburg. With around 240 parishioners, this is the smallest in the church district.

Furnishing

Altar and organ gallery

The interior is closed at the top with a flat wooden barrel ceiling.

During the new construction, equipment from the previous building was taken over. In the church there is a pulpit from 1650 and an altarpiece that is dated to 1674, as well as parts of the former predella on the east wall.

The pulpit was created by the carpenter, carver and painter Tönnies Mahler from Leer. It shows reliefs of the evangelists in round arches decorated with fittings. The sound cover is decorated with the risen Jesus. Painted scenes from the New Testament can be seen on the winged altar. The focus is on events from Jesus' childhood.

The box stalls with the traljen grids were installed in the church around 1779.

In 1830 the church received its first organ. This was replaced in 1883 by a new building by Folkert Becker & Sohn, which was thoroughly repaired in 1994 by Alfred Führer .
