New alpine railways
The New Alpine Railways (a term used by politics and the media, not by legislation or administration) were a project of new north-south railway transversals in imperial Austria realized by the state from 1901 under the leadership of the Imperial and Royal Railway Ministry after decades of discussion . The aim of the project was in particular the better connection of the international port of Trieste to the network of the kk state railways . The project was completed in 1909 with the opening of the Tauern Railway.

- Karawankenbahn with Karawanken tunnel
- Wocheiner train with Wocheiner tunnel
- Karstbahn (Trieste Railway)
- Wechselbahn (part of the Aspangbahn )
