development

The party was one of the four Eritrean political parties invited to hold the session on the Eritrean question in the United Nations General Assembly from April to May 1949. Two representatives of the party traveled to New York City - Mohammed Abdulla and Mohammed Tatok. At the United Nations, Mohammed Abdulla took over the party's position as a supporter of the Italian trusteeship in preparation for independence. After all this, the various pro-independence parties formed a close alliance and began to formulate similar positions in view of the will for independence.

In May 1949 the party changed its name to the New Eritrea Party . At the same time, it reformulated its political agenda and supported immediate independence. The party advocated forging an alliance with the Independent Muslim League . In June 1949 the party became a member of the Blocco Indipendenza ( Italian independence bloc ). The independence bloc called for full independence of Eritrea within the borders of 1936.

The party failed to win any seats in the elections to the regional national assembly of the now Ethiopian province of Eritrea in 1952.
