The new parish church Klagenfurt-St. Peter is on Völkermarkter Strasse in the St. Peter district near Ebenthal in the municipality of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee in Carinthia . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to St. Simon Peter , belongs to the dean's office in Klagenfurt-Stadt in the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The new church was built from 1956 to 1958 according to the plans of the architect Franz Lukesch .

architecture

The hall building, oriented to the northeast, as a reinforced concrete skeleton structure, shows itself on the main front with a raised projecting asymmetrical structure.

The interior of the church shows the large-scale mosaic Fischzug Petri by the painter Karl Bauer in 1962 on the slightly curved choir wall. Karl Bauer also created the glass paintings in the baptistery in 1962.

Furnishing

The left side altar bears a copy of the Beautiful Madonna from 1972. A late Gothic wooden statuette of St. Peter.
