history

From March 1960, the federal executive committee of the SDS in Frankfurt am Main published the new criticism - magazine for socialist theory and politics . Jürgen Seifert was initially responsible, and later Michael Vester . The magazine developed into the central medium of the New Left in the 1960s.

In 1968 the editors were Wolfgang Abendroth , Hans-Jürgen Krahl , Herbert Lederer , Klaus Meschkat , Oskar Negt , Bernd Rabehl , Helmut Schauer , Klaus Vack , Fritz Lamm , Frank Wolff , Karl Dietrich Wolff . The magazine was published by the New Criticism publishing house , and the editorial staff, for which Ursula Schmiederer was responsible, included Bernhard Blanke , Reimut Reiche and Wolf Rosenbaum . The publishing house and editorial office were in Frankfurt , where the federal headquarters of the SDS was also located.
