The New Jewish Cemetery in Liběšice (German Liebeschitz) is located about 1.5 kilometers east of the village Liběšice and is on the road from Dubčany (Dubschan) to Tuchořice (Tuchorschitz). It was laid out in 1897, has a total area of 1800 m² and only has seven gravestones from 1900 to 1915. The cemetery has been abandoned and is surrounded by a damaged wall so that it is freely accessible. Due to the removed tombstones, its condition is worse than that of the Old Jewish Cemetery . In the cemetery there were two buildings with Moorish windows, of which only remains are left.
After the pogrom of 1541 in Žatec (Saaz), expelled Jews also settled in Liebeschitz. Later there was also a synagogue here. Rabbis in Liebeschitz were:
- Philipp Lederer 1898
- J. Eisenberg 1899
- Simon Kohn 1900
- Leopold Reiss 1902
- Moritz Bußgang 1904
- Rabbi Austria until 1928
The Jewish community in Liebeschitz existed until 1931, when it was dissolved because Jewish life was concentrated in Saaz.
