Neuhauser polka

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Neuhauser Polka is a polka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 137). The work was first performed on September 18, 1853 in Ungers Casino in Vienna.

Remarks

To recover from a serious illness, Johann Strauss also stayed in the spa town of Bad Neuhaus near the town of Celje in present-day Slovenia in 1853 . There he composed this polka, named after the spa town. Later it was somewhat forgotten and was rarely performed, if at all. This was also due to the fact that the composer's many compositions sometimes displaced each other from the concert schedule. There was simply an oversupply of such works.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 3 minutes and 33 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
