Neukirchen (Borna)

Neukirchen is a district of the city of Borna in the Leipzig district (Free State of Saxony ) and was an independent municipality until 1948.

history

On October 1, 1948, the village of Wyhra became part of Neukirchen. The community was now called Neukirchen-Wyhra until September 30, 1993. On October 1, 1993, the state government of Saxony united the communities of Neukirchen, Wyhra and Zedtlitz and the community of Wyhratal was created, to which the community of Thräna was incorporated on July 1, 1997.

However, this place only existed until December 31, 2003, because on January 1, 2004 Wyhratal was incorporated into the city of Borna and the four places have since been independent districts of the district town.

On December 31, 2018, Neukirchen had 869 inhabitants

Neukirchen is located in the Leipzig lowland bay between Borna in the north-west and Frohburg in the south-east.

In the west, the Neukirchen district borders the Wyhra valley . To the east is the Harthsee bathing water , a flooded open-cast mine.

The districts bordered Zedtlitz , Schönau , Nenkersdorf , Bubendorf and the place Wyhra .

The B 95 , which has been downgraded to the S 51 , runs through Neukirchen and the A 72 to the east of the town . The route of the Neukieritzsch – Chemnitz railway runs through the village , on which the S 6 of the Central German S-Bahn runs to Geithain . The stop in Neukirchen is called Neukirchen-Wyhra .
