Location of Bubendorf in Saxony

Bubendorf is a district of the city of Frohburg in the district of Leipzig (Free State of Saxony ). It was incorporated into Benndorf in 1948 and came to Frohburg with this in 1997.

geography

Bubendorf is located in the Leipzig lowland bay between Borna in the north-west and Frohburg in the south-east. In the northeast of the village is the Harthsee , a flooded open pit.

history

The place name of Bubendorf, like the name of the Frohburg district of Frauendorf , is said to be associated with the pilgrimage church in neighboring Nenkersdorf . Around 1764 there was a manor in the village . Bubendorf was in the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Borna until 1856 . From 1856 the place belonged to the Frohburg court office and from 1875 to the Borna district administration .

Lignite mining has shaped the region around Bubendorf since the middle of the 19th century. The Bubendorf opencast mine northeast of the town received the first overburden conveyor bridge in central Germany in 1925. In 1926 the opencast mine was shut down. Its area with the former facilities was dredged over between 1980 and 1983 by construction site IV of the Borna-Ost opencast mine . After the renaturation, the Harthsee emerged in the area .

Bubendorf was incorporated into Benndorf on October 1, 1948. In 1952 it was incorporated into the Geithain district in the Leipzig district , which in 1994 became part of the Leipziger Land district. On January 1, 1997, Benndorf was incorporated into the city of Frohburg, making Benndorf and Bubendorf districts of Frohburg. Both places did not make use of the opportunity to form local councils for their district.

traffic

In the northeast of the village, the B 95 , which has been downgraded to the S 51 , runs parallel to the A 72 . Between the two streets lies the route of the Neukieritzsch – Chemnitz railway line, opened in 1872 , on which the Central German S-Bahn runs to Geithain . The neighboring towns of Frohburg and Neukirchen-Wyhra have a train station.
