Location of Wüstenhain in Saxony

Wüstenhain is a district of the city of Frohburg in the south of the Leipzig district in Saxony .

geography

Desert grove is located about two kilometers southwest of the town of Kohren-Sahlis and one kilometer south of Gnandstein, which is also part of Kohren-Sahlis . Other neighboring towns are Rüdigsdorf, about 1.5 km east, and Dolsenhain, 1.2 km north-west . Both places are also districts of Kohren-Sahlis.

The place consists of eight residential buildings and some other buildings. Desert grove is almost completely surrounded by fields, north of the village there is a small piece of forest. The place is about 200  m above sea level. NN , with the terrain slightly sloping towards Gnandstein.

A few hundred meters west of Wüstenhain flows the Wyhra , a 47 km long tributary of the Pleiße , whose course between Altmörbitz and Gnandstein is surrounded by forest.

history

Wüstenhain was first mentioned in 1363 as Wustinhain and was administered by the Borna Office until its dissolution in 1856 . To 1764 was manorial desert grove manor Gnandstein . After the administration was taken over by the Frohburg court office from 1856 to 1875 , Wüstenhain came to the Borna district administration in 1875 (later Borna district).

Wüstenhain was a rural municipality until 1940 when it was incorporated into Gnandstein. After the end of the Second World War , Wüstenhain was again incorporated into Gnandstein on October 1, 1948. 1952 was the district Geithain , who in district reform on 1 August 1994 in Leipziger Land came up. In 1996 Gnandstein was incorporated into Kohren-Sahlis with a desert grove. Since January 1st, 2018 the place belongs to the city of Frohburg.

Desert grove was always parish to Gnandstein.

Name development

The place name Wustinhain has been handed down from 1363 . About Wustenhain (1474) and Wüstenhayn (1758) the place name developed to today's name Wüstenhain.

Economy and Infrastructure

Desert grove is connected to the neighboring towns of Gnandstein and Rüdigsdorf by narrow but paved roads. The through-town and main street of Wüstenhain has been cobblestone since the 1950s and was traffic-calmed until 2006 . There are no road boundaries in town.

In Gnandstein there is a connection to the county road 7940 in the direction of Kohren-Sahlis and Dolsenhain, where the state road 51 is located. The next motorway junction is the Geithain junction of the A 72 near Roda (about 8 km away).
