Eschefeld is a district of the city of Frohburg in the district of Leipzig (Free State of Saxony ). The neighboring village of Kleineschefeld , which was incorporated in 1934, and the Teichhaus settlement belong to Eschefeld .

Eschefeld is located southwest of Frohburg on the border with the Thuringian Altenburger Land . The Free State of Thuringia borders Eschefeld in the west and south. To the east towards Frohburg are the Eschefelder ponds . In the southern municipal area is the Seebischteich, which protrudes into the Altenburger Land in a bulge.

A mansion was already occupied in Eschefeld around 1291. While the place was subordinate to the " castrum Altenburg " around 1378 , from the middle of the 16th century until 1856 it belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Borna . The jurisdiction over the place lay with the manor Wolftitz .

In 1562, Kleineschefeld is documented as a preliminary work of the Frohburg manor in the Borna district. In 1780 the Lehngut Kleineschefeld was built in the Baroque style . In the 19th century it was owned by the Krug von Nidda family .

For fish economic use by the nearby manor in Frohburg were in the West on an area of 562 ha in the 18th century between Frohburg the east and Eschefeld ash ponds fields created. Between Kleineschefeld in the north and the large pond in the south, the four-sided courtyard "Teichhaus" was built in 1780 to manage the fish ponds. In the period that followed, a small settlement developed on the site.

From 1856 Eschefeld and Kleineschefeld belonged to the Frohburg court office and from 1875 to the Borna district administration . In 1934 Kleineschefeld was incorporated into Eschefeld. In the course of the second district reform in the GDR, Eschefeld came to the Geithain district in the Leipzig district in 1952 , which was added to the Leipziger Land district in 1994 .

On January 1, 1999, Eschefeld was incorporated into the town of Frohburg with its district of Kleineschefeld and the Teichhaus settlement. Eschefeld did not make use of the opportunity to form a local council.
