history

Little research has been done into the history of the place. It was always overshadowed by the history of Gnandstein. Dolsenhain was probably created as a forest hoof village in the 12th century in the course of a clearing of forest areas by Franconian-Saxon and Sorbian farmers. Early place-name forms in documents were Dulsenaw in 1363, Dolnßenaw in 1441, and Dolsenhayn in 1551. It is believed that Dolsenhain came under the rule of Gnandstein Castle in the 13th century . For the year 1487, the knight Heinrich von Einsiedel was enfeoffed with dolsen groves and desert groves. For the year 1551, 26 possessed men 54 residents were mentioned for Dolsenhain . Dolsenhain was a literary manor in the Electorate of Borna and in 1764 had 26 possessed men, 16 cottagers and 12 hooves per 12 acres. In 1789 12 hooves with 143 inhabitants, 28 horses, 128 cows and 130 sheep were attested in the village.

In 1863 a choir was founded in the village. In 1897 the Royal Saxon Military Association was founded in Dolsenhain and the surrounding area. In 1907 a telephone station was set up in the village and in 1911 Dolsenhain became a member of the "Electricity Association Borna-Grimma-Rochlitz".

The Leipzig – Chemnitz trunk road was straightened and widened in 1934. Dolsenhain only received a water pipe in 1951, and the local lighting was also repaired. As part of the collectivization and industrialization of agriculture, the LPG Type I "Albrecht Thaer" was founded in Dolsenhain in 1959. The allotment gardener division was established in 1963 and the cultural center was built in 1967/68.

The Dolsenhainer LPG merged in 1976 with the Rüdigsdorfer LPG "Karl Marx". The bridge over which the federal highway 95 leads was repaired in 2003.

On April 1, 1996, Dolsenhain became a district of Kohren-Sahlis. Since January 1st, 2018 the place belongs to the city of Frohburg.
