geography

General information

Meusdorf is the southernmost and highest situated village in the former district of Leipziger Land . The neighboring towns are Linda and Jahnshain in the Saxon district of Leipzig, Langenleuba-Oberhain in the district of Central Saxony and the districts of Neuenmörbitz and Schömbach in the Thuringian district of Altenburger Land belonging to Langenleuba-Niederhain .

physiognomy

Seen from above, the village has an interesting tripartite division, which is shown by three different arms of the road. To the east, the houses are on the road towards Jahnshain. To the north there are also houses to the left and right of the street. To the west, however, there is the young cattle enclosure on the left, which makes up about a third of the entire village area. The village is surrounded entirely by arable land. The village image is characterized by many four-sided courtyards with half-timbering.

history

It is assumed that around 1100 settlers from Franconia set out to clear the forest. Meusdorf could also have been created during this time. Originally the place was a small village. On July 5, 1827 , there was a fire disaster (popularly known as the “Red Rooster”), only one farm was spared, as a result of a land consolidation procedure that was carried out, the houses were no longer built so close together and Meusdorf was instead expanded towards Jahnshain.

Meusdorf was in the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Borna until 1856 . The jurisdiction over the place lay with the Sahlis manor . From 1856 Meusdorf belonged to the Frohburg court office and from 1875 to the Rochlitz administration . In 1950 it was incorporated into Jahnshain and assigned to the Rochlitz district . With the second district reform in the GDR, Meusdorf came with Jahnshain to the Geithain district in the Leipzig district in 1952 , which was added to the Leipziger Land district in 1994 .

With the incorporation of Jahnshain in 1999, Meusdorf became a district of Kohren-Sahlis. Since January 1st, 2018 the place belongs to the city of Frohburg.
