Nine currents
The so-called nine currents ( Chinese 九流 , Pinyin jiǔliú ) are a collective name for various Chinese philosophical schools and spiritual currents of the pre-Qin period .
In the Hanshu yiwenzhi ( 漢書 · 藝文志 ), the literature catalog of the Hanshu , the following nine directions are distinguished:
- Rujia (Confucianism) ( 儒家 )
- Daojia (Daoism) ( 道家 )
- Yinyangjia (Yin-Yang school) ( 陰陽家 )
- Fajia (legalism) ( 法家 )
- Mingjia (school of names) ( 名家 )
- Mojia (Mohism) ( 墨家 )
- Zonghengjia (School of Union and Disengagement ) ( 縱橫 家 )
- Zajia (syncretists / eclectic) ( 雜 家 )
- Nongjia (School of Agriculture / Agriculture School) ( 農家 )
