Neusatz School

The Neusatz-Schule is a listed school building in Worms, Rhineland-Palatinate, in Willy-Brandt-Ring 5.

history

The Neusatz School was built in 1891 according to the designs of the architect and Worms town builder Karl Hofmann . Initially, the building served as a primary school , where all boys and girls in the city of Worms received general education , separated by gender . The name Neusatz-Schule was chosen to distinguish itself from the city limits, as the school was built in an area that was outside the city wall. Thus, the name of the building should represent the "newly occupied land (Neusatz)".

During the Second World War , the building was almost completely destroyed by aerial bombs, among other things. It was rebuilt in the post-war years that almost came close to the original.

Architectural description

The building is a four-storey monumental structure made of black granite and red and yellowish bricks in the so-called Nibelungen style .
