The route network of the Neutitscheiner local railway

The kk priv. Neutitscheiner Lokalbahn (NLB; Czech: Novojičínská místní dráha ) was a local railway company in today's Czech Republic . The company's route ran from Suchdol nad Odrou ( Zauchtel ) to Nový Jičín ( Neutitschein ) in northern Moravia . The company was owned by the municipality of Neutitschein.

history

On September 7th, 1880, the community of Neutitschein received “the requested concession to build and operate a standard-gauge local train from the Zauchtl station of the a. priv. Kaiser Ferdinand-Nordbahn nach Neutitschein ”granted. Part of the concession was the obligation to start construction of the line immediately and to finish it within six months. The line was opened on December 20, 1880. The Neutitscheiner local railway carried out the operation itself.

In the years of the Second World War, the Neutitscheiner local railway also took over the management of the Hotzendorf – Neutitschein Süd railway line (Hostašovice – Nový Jičín horní nádraží). This had been partly on German territory since October 1938, but had no direct connection to other German routes. There was also no connection to the main line of the Neutitscheiner local railway.

After the Second World War in 1945, the Neutitscheiner local railway was nationalized and the lines were integrated into the ČSD network. The main route from Suchdol nad Odrou to Nový Jičín still exists. In contrast, the stretch between Hostašovice and Nový Jičín was severely damaged in a flood in June 2009. A repair was not carried out after that, today the line is dismantled.

Locomotives

In 1880/1881 the Neutitscheiner Lokalbahn acquired two double-coupled tank locomotives as initial equipment , followed by a third in 1892. When these small machines were too weak for the increasing train mass, the Neutitscheiner Lokalbahn purchased three of the tried and tested triple-coupled tank locomotives of the kkStB series 97 from 1904 . These three locomotives came to ČSD in 1945, until 1963 they were retired.
