The railway line Suchdol nad Odrou – Nový Jičín město is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic , which was originally built and operated by the kk priv. Neutitscheiner Lokalbahn (NLB). It runs from Suchdol nad Odrou ( Zauchtel ) to Nový Jičín ( Neutitschein ).

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

The community of Neutitschein received the concession for the local railway on September 7, 1880. On December 20, 1880 the line was opened. The Neutitscheiner local railway carried out the operation itself.

In 1912, the local railway timetable showed eleven mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains. They needed 24 minutes for the ten kilometer route.

After the Sudetenland was annexed to Germany in autumn 1938, the line was henceforth in German territory. In the Reich course book , the connection was included as a course book route 151m Zauchtel – Neutitschein .

After the end of the Second World War in 1945, the Neutitscheiner local railway was nationalized. The line now belonged to the network of the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD). At the end of the 1950s, the previous locomotive-hauled trains were replaced by railcars . The winter timetable of 1958/59 recorded a total of 14 pairs of passenger trains, all of which were run as railcars.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 2012 timetable, the route was served by passenger trains every two hours. Further trains condensed the offer to a partial hourly service.

In August 2020, the tracks and facilities are to be renewed at a cost of 80 million crowns. The aim is to increase the line speed from the current 40 to 50 km / h.
