The Hostašovice – Nový Jičín horní nádraží railway was a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated by the kk priv. Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn (KFNB) as a local line Hotzendorf – Neutitschein. It ran from Hostašovice ( Hotzendorf ) to Nový Jičín ( Neutitschein ).
According to a decree of the Czech government, the line was classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.
history
The concession for the local line Hotzendorf – Neutitschein was awarded to the KFNB on March 19, 1888 together with the Drösing – Zistersdorf , Göding – Aerialtabakfabrik , Rohatetz – Strassnitz and Goleschau – Ustron lines . Part of the concession was the obligation to complete the line by June 30, 1889 and to "hand it over to public transport ". The license was issued until December 31, 1975. The line was opened on June 1, 1889. The KFNB carried out the operation itself.
After the nationalization of the KFNB on January 1, 1906, the line belonged to the network of the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB). From January 1, 1907, the kkStB also took over the management. In 1912, the local railway timetable showed five mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains. Another was added on Sundays and public holidays. They needed between 32 and 36 minutes for the eleven-kilometer route in the direction of Neutitschein.
After the First World War, the line came to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD). The winter timetable of 1937/38 was only slightly changed compared to the timetable of 1912. Six pairs of third-class passenger trains ran daily.
After the annexation of the Sudetenland to Germany in autumn 1938, most of the route was now on German territory. The Neutitscheiner local railway took over the management . In the Reich course book , the connection was now included as course book route 151k Hotzendorf – Neutitschein Süd . After the end of the Second World War , the route was completely returned to the ČSD.
On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).
On June 24, 2009, the route was badly damaged in a flood . Railway operations had to be stopped. After lengthy discussions the government infrastructure operators refused Správa železniční dopravní cesty from a repair of the track as the part of the relevant public transport -Aufgabenträgers Moravskoslezský kraj no long-term guarantee order was issued. The necessary investments were estimated at 82 to 90 million crowns . The utilization of the trains before the flood was low, and the Moravskoslezský kraj saved about four million crowns a year by replacing the trains with buses. The town of Nový Jičín, in particular, endeavored to renew rail traffic, while the other towns favored the closure of the line and the construction of a railway cycle path .
In the last valid annual timetable for 2008/2009, eight pairs of passenger trains ran on weekdays, which took around 16-18 minutes for the entire route. There were six travel options on Sundays.
Today the route is dismantled. On September 26, 2014, a cycle path was opened on the former route.
