The Rohatec – Sudoměřice nad Moravou railway is a main line ("celostátní dráha") in the Czech Republic , which was originally built and operated by the kk priv. Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn (KFNB) as the Rohatetz – Strassnitz local railway . It runs from Rohatec ( Rohatetz ) to Sudoměřice ( Sudoměřitz ).

history

The concession for the Rohatetz – Strassnitz local railway was awarded to the KFNB on March 19, 1888 together with the Drösing – Zistersdorf , Göding – Aerialtabakfabrik , Hotzendorf – Neutitschein and Golleschau – Ustron lines . Part of the concession was the obligation to complete the line by June 30, 1889 and to "hand it over to public transport ". The license was issued until December 31, 1975. The line was opened on October 1, 1889. The KFNB carried out the operation itself.

After the nationalization of the KFNB on January 1, 1906, the line belonged to the network of the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB). From January 1, 1907, the kkStB also took over the management. In 1912, the local railroad's timetable showed five mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains, all of which were connected to and from Strassnitz. They needed 17 minutes for the six-kilometer route.

After the First World War, the line came to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD). The winter timetable of 1937/38 only recorded three 3rd class train pairs.

During the Second World War , the route lay entirely in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . The operators were now the Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB). During this time there is a significant consolidation of the timetable. Up to eight pairs of trains served the route. On May 9, 1945, the entire line came back to the ČSD.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 2017 timetable, the route was served every two hours by passenger trains on line S91 ( Hodonín - Javorník nad Veličkou ). On weekdays, additional trains condensed the offer, sometimes at hourly intervals.
