Rohatec (German Rohatetz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located five kilometers northeast of Hodonín on the March and belongs to the Okres Hodonín .
history
Archaeological finds prove the settlement of the area at the time of the Moravian Empire . Around 1030 a fortress called Rohatec was built. The first written mention was made in 1270 in a document from King Přemysl Otakar II. In 1368 the Litomist Bishop Albrecht von Sternberg sold the fortress and village to Beneš von Kravař and Strážnice . Rohatec stayed with the Strážnice estate until 1848. In 1865, a stop for the Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn , which opened in 1841, was set up in Rohatec . 1869 Rohatec is the Bezirkshauptmannschaft assigned Hodonín.
In 1987 Rohatec was incorporated into Hodonín, and since 1990 it has been independent again.
