history

The first written mention of the village belonging to the episcopal estate Šitbořice was made in 1131 in a property register of the Diocese of Olomouc . It was not until the end of the 15th century that Čeložnice was mentioned again as the property of Georg von Oynitz. After his death the village fell back to the Bohemian crown as a settled fiefdom . In 1496, Vladislav II gave Čeložnice to Jakob von Sarow. Three years later he left it to Filip von Zástřizl together with the desert Hostassow . In 1527 Čeložnice was attached to the Milotice dominion , which it remained until the middle of the 19th century. To the north-east of the village, at the foot of Paní háj in the Moštěnka valley, black lime was quarried in a large quarry that served as building material. In 1834, 302 people lived in the 72 houses in the village. Čeložnice was parish after Kostelec, which was also the school location.

After the abolition of patrimonial Čeložnice / Tscheloschnitz formed from 1850 a community in the district authority of Gaya . In 1870 a brick factory was built. In 1897 a school house was built in Čeložnice, which was expanded in 1903 for two-class teaching. In the years 1912 to 1913 the district road from Kostelc to Čeložnice was built. After the Okres Kyjov was abolished, the place was assigned to the Okres Hodonín in 1960. After the school was closed, a kindergarten and the municipal office were housed in the school. To the north of the village is the Pastviny recreational area with 90 cabins and the Relax training center.
