history

The first mention comes from the year 1349 under the name Artlebau. In 1356 the place was mentioned as Hartlebow. Today it is assumed that the place name is derived from the German name Hartleib or Hartleb and was probably originally Hartlebshof or Hartlebsau. In 1437 the village was declared a town and in the 16th century it belonged to the Ždánice manor .

Attractions

  • A chapel was built near the market square in 1447, and later the parish church of St. Roch and Sebastian in 1729.
  • With over 200 people in traditional costumes, the village maintains its historical folk character.
