Josefov (German Josefsdorf ) is a municipality with 412 inhabitants (January 1, 2019) in the Czech Republic . The South Moravian wine village is 9 km west of Hodonín at 186 m above sea level. M. on the right bank of the Prušánka river and belongs to the Okres Hodonín . The border with Slovakia runs along the March at a distance of approx. 10 km to the south and east .
history
Josefsdorf was founded in 1782 on the corridors of a Meierhof and named after Emperor Joseph II .
The village of Kukvice, which was first documented in 1383, was located at this point. The village parish after Mikulčice was destroyed by troops Matthias Corvinus in 1469 during the conflict over the crown of Bohemia . In 1528 the devastated village was rebuilt and abandoned after being destroyed again in the Thirty Years War .
The new settlers were freed from aristocratic labor and lived from viticulture and other forms of agriculture. After the abolition of patrimonial Josefsdorf became a part of the community of Unterbojanowitz and got its independence in 1867.
The village consists of 120 houses and has no districts. Its inhabitants maintain old customs. The highlights of village life include the traditional costume festival and the spring festival "Smrtnica", both festivals take place annually.
Attractions
- The statue of St. Anna from 1760 was donated by a shepherd who found a buried treasure made of gold coins on this spot on Prušánka.
