history
Ostrowanek was first mentioned in a document in 1131 in a register of the Olomouc bishopric about the possession of the castle church of Břeclav . In 1204 Konstanze von Ungarn gave the monastery Hradisch a barren field near Ostrowanek. After the village was extinct, it was repopulated in the 13th century and called Ostrawsko or Ostrafan . In 1227 Kojata IV. Von Hrabischitz bequeathed it to the church of St. Wenceslas on Zderaz after the death of his wife Vratislava . In 1350 part of the village belonged to the Mouchnice estate . In 1373 Nahrad von Ostrowanek owned the villages Ostrowanek and Sobůlky . Marsik von Ostrowanek bought Ostrowanek back from Andreas Kyg in 1385. In 1417 Marsik's widow sold her morning gift in Ostrowanek to Czenko von Butschowitz. Her two sons Johann and Hanusch remained the owners of the village. In the course of the 15th century Ostrowanek came completely to the rule of Butschowitz . When Johann Berka von Dubá sold it to Jan Kropáč von Nevědomí in 1494, Ostrowanek was listed as an accessory. In 1511 Niklas Kropáč left the now deserted village to Wenzel Pacak from Pačlavice, who sold it to Proček and Jan from Zástřizl on Ždánice in 1519 . The oldest local seal with the inscription peczet diediny OSTROVAN dates from 1679. In 1790 the village consisted of 30 houses and had 160 inhabitants. Another seal has come down to us from 1821. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to Ždánice. The parish and school location was Lovčice .
After the abolition of patrimonial Ostrovanky / Ostrowanek formed from 1850 a district of the municipality Nechvalín in the district administration Gaya . Since 1890 Ostrovanky formed its own municipality. The current place name Ostrovánky has been in use since the beginning of the 20th century . After the Okres Kyjov was abolished, the place was assigned to the Okres Hodonín in 1960. Ostrovánky has had a coat of arms and a banner since 2001.
