geography

Moravský Písek is located at the southeastern foot of the Kyjovská pahorkatina in the Dolnomoravský úval ( southern March basin ) on the edge of a sand dune. The village lies on the right side of the Polešovický creek and the Nová Morava canal. The March flows three and a half kilometers to the southeast . The state road I / 54 from Bzenec to Veselí nad Moravou passes south of the village . The Přerov-Břeclav railway line runs on the western edge of the village , from which the Bzenec – Moravsky Písek railway branches off. There are train stops in Moravský Písek two. The Moravský Písek-zastávka stop is located near the center of the village on the first route, while the Moravský Písek train station, two kilometers southwest in the U nádraží settlement, is served by both routes. To the southwest is the railway cross with the Brno – Vlárský průsmyk railway line .

Neighboring towns are Vážany , Polešovice in the north, Nedakonice , Ostrozska Nova Ves and Chylice in the Northeast, Kvačice and Uherský Ostroh in the east, Milokošť, Veseli nad Moravou and Zarazice the southeast, Vnorovy , Lidéřovice and Strážnice in the south, nádraží U, Olšovec and Bzenec in Southwest and Těmice , Domanín and Ořechov in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the village took place in 1300 in connection with Rubert de Arena, who was a witness in a deed of donation from Velislav von Ořechov for the Velehrad monastery . The place name Písek (Latin arena , German sand ) is derived from the dune. Since 1363 the Písek domain belonged to the Hradian district. In 1415 the Lords of Sternberg bought Písek and added it to their rule of Wessely . Around 1526, Hynek Bilík von Kornice had the Horní rybník and Dolní rybník fish ponds built in the March meadows using large embankments. The oldest local seal dates from 1638. Maximilian Želecký of Počenice, who acquired the Wessely estate in 1707, had the Kačeník duck catching facility set up a little later south of Písek on the area of the drained Dolní rybník pond, where he had trained dogs catch the waterfowl alive. From 1731 the rule belonged to the Chorinský von Ledska family. A school has existed in Písek since 1787. Until the middle of the 19th century, Písek always remained subservient to Wessely and Count Chorinský.

After the replacement of patrimonial Písek / Pissek formed from 1850 a community in the district administration Hradisch . In 1897 the volunteer fire brigade was founded . The official place name was extended in 1924 to distinguish it from places of the same name by the predicate Moravský . In 1949 Moravský Písek was assigned to the Okres Veselí nad Moravou and after its dissolution in 1960 the municipality belongs to the Okres Hodonín . Moravský Písek has had a coat of arms and a banner since 2000.
