history

Archaeological finds in the area of the municipality go back to the Neolithic Age . According to tradition, there was a fortress on the hill Hradisko in the center of the village, which is said to have belonged to a Ješutboř around the year 1000.

The first written mention of Ješutbořice including the pastors and a stone church was in 1255 as the property of the Lords of Lomnice. In 1317, after the death of her husband Tas von Lomnitz, Katharina von Deblín gave the church patronage in Ořechov and Jestbořice as well as the villages of Velké Blažovice, Malé Blažovice and Ořechovičky to the Dominican convent of St. Anna near Brno founded by her husband . From the 14th century, Šitbořice gained importance as a wine-growing place and later received its own mining rights. After numerous changes of ownership, the brothers Augustin and Ignatz von Neuwall acquired the estate in 1824 and added it to their rule in Klobouky . Until the middle of the 19th century, Šitbořice always remained submissive to Klobouky.

After the abolition of patrimonial Šitbořice / Schittborzitz formed from 1850 a community in the district authority Auspitz . The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1898. After the district town of Auspitz had been added to the German Reich in 1938 as a result of the Munich Agreement , Šitbořice was then assigned to the political district of Brno-Land and the judicial district of Klobouky until 1945. In 1940 the village consisted of 600 houses. After the end of the Second World War, the Okres Hustopeče was restored. After its abolition in 1960, Šitbořice belongs to the Okres Břeclav . In 1998 and 2001 the municipality won the Village of the Year competition in Okres Břeclav and the Brno region. There are vineyards to the east and south of the village.
