history
The first written mention of the village belonging to the Týnec rule took place in 1264. One of the numerous owners was Margrave Jobst of Moravia , who acquired Týnec in 1348 with the villages of Tvrdonice, Kostice, Dluhonice, Hrušky and Lanžhot . Tvrdonice was elevated to a town in 1538. In 1638, Karl Eusebius von Liechtenstein acquired the property and added it to his rule in Břeclav . Up until the 17th century, hostile armies often invaded the country via the Marchfurt near Brodské. The area between Kostice, Tvrdonice and Lanžhot was considered an open gate to Moravia and the three villages regularly suffered from the war people. Until the middle of the 19th century, Tvrdonice was always subject to the Liechtenstein people . The inhabitants lived from agriculture and fish farming.
After the abolition of patrimonial Tvrdonice / Turnitz formed a municipality in the Hodonín district from 1850 . During the Second World War, the Red Army took the village on April 13, 1945 , and 58 Soviet soldiers were killed. After the end of the war, the community was assigned to the Okres Břeclav. Since 2002 the community has had a coat of arms and a banner. To the west of the village there is an oil and gas deposit . To the north and south are vineyards and orchards. The village is part of the Podluží region. The Podluží folklore festival is held annually in Tvrdonice.
