The Goleszów – Wisła Głębce railway is a continuously single-track and electrified railway line in the Polish Silesian Voivodeship in the Silesian Beskids . It leads in the upper Vistula valley from Goleszów to Wisła Głębce . A further planned expansion to Zwardoń was prevented by the outbreak of World War II, after which the plans to continue building were not taken up again.

history

The first section to Ustroń was created as a side line of the Moravian-Silesian city railway completed on December 18, 1888 . On May 3, 1928 the line was extended to Ustroń Polana, followed on August 10, 1929 by the section Ustroń Polana - Wisła Uzdrowisko. On May 3, 1933 Wisła was reached. In the course of the route's history, numerous changes to the station names have taken place.

In the area of the Ustroń station there has been a locomotive shed and a water crane as well as a weighbridge since the end of the 19th century . During the renovation in 1974 these facilities were removed.

The line was electrified on December 23, 1974.

Freight traffic between Wisła Uzdrowisko and Wisła Głębce was stopped in 2008, and all freight traffic was stopped before 2015. On September 4, 2016, the necessary renovation of the Głębce Railway Bridge was determined. Due to the withdrawal of the permit by the construction supervision, the section Ustroń Polana - Wisła Głębce was immediately closed on July 20, 2017 because the two bridges were dilapidated. After the renovation, passenger train traffic was resumed on December 10, 2017.

business

The route was operated until 2012 by the former subsidiary of Polskie Koleje Państwowe (PKP), Przewozy Regionalne . Today trains run by the regional railway company Koleje Śląskie .
