In 2013, an association was founded under the name of neuwal - Association for the Promotion of Political Education and Online Journalism , which now officially operates the website. In addition, Dieter Zirnig and the editorial team of the website received the Dr.-Karl-Renner-Publizistikpreis in the same year .

history

The association was founded by Dieter Zirnig on July 8, 2008, one day after Wilhelm Molterer terminated the grand coalition with the SPÖ . It was the first blog in Austria that reported on elections in an interactive manner on the Internet - initially and as a case in point, the early National Council election in Austria in 2008 . The original blog was later supplemented by appearances on the social media Facebook and Twitter . The first editors from 2008 were Dieter Zirnig and Dominik Leitner.

In 2010, neuwal is mentioned in the report Schatten und Licht in the monthly magazine Datum as part of the Web 2.0 revolution in Austria.

In 2011, the association revealed that the politician Barbara Rosenkranz ( FPÖ ) had used a picture from a National Socialist calendar for the invitation to a solstice celebration . In 2014, neuwal was the first Austrian medium to attend the academics ball and reported on it. The Barometer followed in 2015 and 2016, an election decision aid that was produced for the 2015 Vienna elections and the 2016 federal presidential election in cooperation with News.

In 2015, Neuwal organized the first Long Politics Day for schoolchildren, apprentices and first-time voters for the Vienna election. The aim is to bring political education closer to young and first-time voters in new formats. The second Long Political Day was held in the first political PopUpStore PopUpPpolit on 100 m² throughout April 2016 as part of the federal presidential election with more than 5,000 first-time voters.

In 2013, an association for the promotion of political education was founded with “neuwal”, whose chairman is Dieter Zirnig. In addition, Zirnig and the editorial team of the website received the Dr. Karl Renner Publizistikpreis in the "Online" category in the same year.

In 2014 Zirnig was awarded the Media Future Prize for neuwal.com.

Since the beginning of the XXVI. During the legislative period, the voting behavior or the presence or absence of the 183 members of the National Council is recorded photographically and statistically in a joint project by Addendum and Neuwal . The results are to be published on their website on an ongoing basis. Parliament itself does not record the voting behavior of the individual mandataries.
