Neva Edwards

Neva Edwards (* 1931 ) is a former Dominica politician of the Dominica Freedom Party (DFP), who was spokeswoman for the House of Assembly , the lower house of Dominica, between 1993 and 1995 .

Life

Neva Edwards was involved in pre-school education and was the director of four NGO programs within the Social Center, including the National Early Childhood Program . In 1991 she received the Meritorious Service Award for her many years of service . After the previous speaker of parliament, Crispin Sorhaindo , assumed the office of fourth President of Dominica on October 25 , she became the new speaker of the House of Assembly , the lower house of Dominica, at the suggestion of the then ruling Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) of Prime Minister Mary Eugenia Charles , chosen. She was previously not a member of parliament and held this office as Speaker of the House of Assembly of Dominica until August 2, 1995, whereupon Osborne Symes succeeded her.

Neva Edwards, who as a lay preacher in the Methodist Church hired in 1999 by the National Council of Women of Dominica (Dominica National Council of Women) for the women's prize of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM Awards for Women) nominated. In 2011 a statue was erected in Hero's Park in Marigot .
