Tivon Pennicott (* 1985 ) is an American jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , also flute ).

Live and act

Pennicott grew up in Marietta, Georgia and then moved to Miami, where he studied music at the University of Miami . From the 2000s he worked in the New York modern jazz scene a. a. with Kenny Burrell , with whom the first recordings were made in 2008 ( Be Yourself - Live at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola ). In the following years he played a. a. with Clayton Cameron , Gregory Porter , Andrew Atkinson , Marko Djordjevic , Dave Stryker , Tuomo Uusitalo and Ari Hoenig ; he also worked on the recordings of Esperanza Spalding( Radio Music Society , 2012), Ross McHenry and Sullivan Fortner with. In 2012 he recorded the album Lover of Nature under his own name with a quartet (with Mike Battadia, piano, Spencer Murphy, bass, Kenneth Salters , drums) . In the field of jazz he was involved in 12 recording sessions between 2008 and 2016. In 2013 he was a finalist in the Thelonious Monk competition .
