Kenneth Salters

Kenneth Salters (* around 1978 in New Haven (Connecticut) ) is an American jazz musician ( drums , composition ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Salters grew up in Columbia, South Carolina and was initially active as a trombonist before studying percussion at the University of South Carolina from 1999 . After moving to New York City in 2006, he worked on the local jazz scene with jazz and R&B musicians such as Don Byron , Chris Potter Aretha Franklin , Myron Walden , Oz Noy , Bert Ligon , Michael Dease , Wycliffe Gordon , Fred Wesley , Steve Houghton , Gordon Goodwin and Ron Westray . Salters released the album Enter to Exit (Destiny Records) with his own compositions under his own name ; participating musicians were u. a. Matt Holman , Myron Walden, Brad Whiteley , Shai Maestro , Akira Ishiguro, and Spencer Murphy. In the field of jazz he was involved in nine recording sessions between 2007 and 2016. a. with Tivon Pennicott . Currently (2019) he plays in the David Berkman Sextet ( Six of One ) and leads the formations Kennci 4 (with Eric Wheeler and Philip Dizack ) and Kenn Salters Haven , with Matt Holman, Tivon Pennicott, Myron Walden, Aki Ishiguro, Brad Whiteley and Rick Rosato , also in the sextet of pianist Arcoiris Sandoval .
