Oz Noy

Oz Noy (* c. 1973 in Israel ) is an Israeli fusion jazz and funk guitarist who lives and works in New York City .

Life

Noy was born in Israel in the early 1970s. At the age of ten he first learned to play drums, but soon switched to guitar. His musical career began as a member of various bands in his youth, soon followed by professional studio recordings with Israeli major labels . At the age of 20 he was a member of the studio band of a well-known Israeli late night show . To give his career new impetus, he decided in 1996 to move to New York. At jam sessions in the jazz clubs of New York, he met Anton Fig , Keith Carlock , Will Lee and other musicians who were to accompany his musical career. He went to the studio and toured with Chris Botti , Toni Braxton , Jeff Tain Watts and collaborated on a variety of projects with fusion greats such as Dave Weckl , Vinnie Colaiuta , James Genus , Jimmy Haslip , Mike Stern and others.

Oz Noy has released seven albums under his own name since 2005 (as of 2016) and is represented as a session musician on a variety of other albums, for example by Richard Bona or Wallace Roney .
