Newe Daniel (Hebrew: נווה דניאל or נְוֵה דָּנִיֵּאל) is an Israeli settlement in the West Bank . The settlement was founded in 1982 and is located in the Gush Etzion settlement block south of Jerusalem . It has 2370 inhabitants. The international community, like all Israeli settlements in the territories occupied since 1967, regards Newe Daniel as illegal under international law. Israel denies this.
Emergence
The settlement was established in July 1982. According to the Palestinian NGO Applied Research Institute - Jerusalem (ARIJ) , 27 dunams of land from the neighboring town of al-Chadr (Arabic: الخضر Hebrew: אל-ח'דר) were confiscated for the construction.
In January 2002, settlers north of Newe Daniel established the illegal outpost Newe Daniel Nord , which is also located on al-Chadr property.
