Nevit Kodallı

Nevit Kodallı (born January 12, 1924 in Mersin ; † September 1, 2009 ibid) was a Turkish composer.

Kodallı studied from 1939 to 1957 with Necil Kâzım Akses at the Ankara Conservatory and then until 1953 at the École Normale de Musique in Paris, composition with Arthur Honegger and conducting with Jean Fournet . He also took lessons from Nadia Boulanger and Charles Koechlin .

Until 1955 he taught at the State Conservatory of Ankara, after which he was first conductor of the opera and later music director of the state theater. He composed two operas, a ballet and drama music, a symphony, an orchestral suite, chamber music works, piano and violin pieces, choral music and songs.
