New Carlisle is a city in Clark County , Ohio , 20 kilometers west of Springfield and north of Dayton . State Routes 235 and 571 intersect in New Carlisle. In 2010, New Carlisle had just under 6,000 inhabitants.
history
The place was founded in 1810. In 1910, over 1000 residents lived there for the first time.
On June 21, 1933, John Dillinger committed his first robbery on the National Bank in Carlisle.
The population rose from 1,500 to 6,500 between 1950 and 1980 when, thanks to the automobile, more and more residents of the cities of Springfield and Dayton moved to the countryside to commute to work . Since 1980 the number of inhabitants has decreased again.
In 1973 New Carlisle was elevated to the status of a "City".
