Frontenex is a French commune with 1,898 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Frontenex belongs to the canton of Albertville-2 (until 2015: canton of Grésy-sur-Isère ) in the arrondissement of Albertville and is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Haute Combe de Savoie .
geography
Frontenex is located about 31 kilometers east-northeast of Chambéry and about eight kilometers southwest of Albertville on the Isère River . Frontenex is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Verrens-Arvey in the north, Tournon in the east, Notre-Dame-des-Millières in the southeast, Sainte-Hélène-sur-Isère in the south and Saint-Vital in the west and southwest.
The former route nationale 90 (today D1090) and the autoroute A430 run along the southern edge of the municipality . Part of the Albertville airfield is located in the extreme southeast of the parish.
