Montvalezan is located about 72 kilometers east of Chambéry and about 35 kilometers east-southeast of Albertville an der Isère , which borders the community in the south. Montvalezan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Séez in the north and west, La Thuile in the northeast and Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise in the south and east.
