Planay ( Franco-Provençal: L Plané ) is commune with 428 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Rhône-Alpes ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Albertville and the canton of Moûtiers ( canton Bozel until 2015 ). It is also part of the Val Vanoise Tarentaise municipal association . The inhabitants are called planerains .

geography

Planay is about 36 kilometers southwest of Albertville . Here the Doron de Pralognan joins the Doron de Bozel . Planay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Champagny-en-Vanoise in the north and east, Pralognan-la-Vanoise in the south and east, Courchevel in the south-west and Bozel in the west and north-west.

In 1893 Planay was formed from the municipality of Pralognan (previously: La Vanoise , today: Pralognan-la-Vanoise ).
