The  New York Knights  were an  arena football team from New York that played in the  Arena Football League  (AFL). The Knights played their home games in Madison Square Garden.

history

The Knights were founded in 1988 and started in the AFL that same year. The franchise only operated a year before it broke up after just one season.

In their first home game, there were fights in the audience blocks. Beer mugs were even thrown on the field. The game was finally lost to Detroit Drive at 48:54 . At the end of the season, the Knights only won two out of twelve games and thus missed the playoffs.

The team's quarterback was Jim Crocicchia , who previously played for the New York Giants in the NFL .

The city of New York later welcomed two more AFL teams to the city, the New York City Hawks (1997-1998) and the New York Dragons (2001-2008).
