Route description

State Route 194 began at the intersection with New York State Route 177 in the hamlet of Barnes Corners. It headed north to the junction with County Route 21, where it bended northeast. NY 194 led into the Pickney State Reforestration Area. McDown Road, a driveway, crossed NY 194 just before the route reached the hamlet of Forks Number Two. From there the State Route led to its end point in the direction of Copenhagen. In Pinckney , State Route 194 changed direction several times until it reached the hamlet of Pinckney Corners. From then on, the Copenhagen route got closer and closer.

State Route 194 left Pinckney behind and entered the Copenhagen area, the largest settlement in Lewis County, about 1.3 km north of Pinckney Corners. The street leads down to the center of town. Downtown, on the former Route 194, there are some commercial establishments and the school center. It eventually ended at the intersection with New York State Route 12.

history
