Newcastle is a place on the north coast of the island of Nevis in St. Kitts and Nevis . It is the main town of the Parish Saint James Windward .
geography
The settlement is located southeast of the Vance W. Amory International Airport , which is on the coast. Part of the settlement even had to be relocated for the construction of the same. One of the buildings that had to give way to the expansion was the historic 17th century Newcastle Redoubt fortress .
The Camps River , which separates Newcastle from the Camps settlement , also flows east of the airport . In the southwest of the settlement is the former Old Windward Estate plantation with the ruins of Cottle Church .
There are Lover's Beach west of the airport, Newcastle Beach in Newcastle Bay just in front of the airport, and Nisbet Beach east of the airport. To the north, a foothill of Nevis stretches below the water level, so the seabed is relatively shallow at 3 km.
The Violet O. Jeffers Nichols Primary School is located in the village .
