Nevena Kokanova

Newena Bogdanowa Kokanowa ( Bulgarian Невена Богданова Коканова ; born December 12, 1938 in Dupnitsa , † June 3, 2000 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian actress .

Life

She first attended a business school and played Julia without an acting training at the theater in Yambol , which is named after her today. There she discovered the director Janko Jankow and cast her in 1957 in his film Godini sa ljubow in the role of Emma. Her talent was convincing, so that after stints at the theaters in Gabrovo and Russe she got an engagement at the State Satirical Theater "Aleko Konstantinow" in Sofia, where she was successful in the role of Maria Antonowa in Gogol's Auditor .

In the film, she often embodied female characters in the conflict between love and a sense of duty, who, however, know how to assert themselves with feminine charm. She performed with all the major Bulgarian actors, including Ivan Andonow , Georgi Georgiev-Gez and Georgi Kalojantschew . At the national film festival in Varna she was awarded the actor's prize several times, including 1963 for her role as Irina in Nikola Korabows Tabak , 1964 for her role as Lisa alongside the Yugoslav actor Rade Marković in Walo Radew's The Peach Thief , and in 1967 for her roles in Ljubomir Scharlandschiev's S dach na bademi as well as in the On Detour, filmed by Grischa Ostrowski and Todor Stojanow, and in 1973 for their teacher in Scharlanschiev's The Best Person I Know .

She co-directed the 1980 film Trite smartni grjacha with Ljubomir Scharlandschiew. Directed by Juan Antonio Bardem , she starred in the award-winning film Die MaTION , a film biography of the Bulgarian Comintern leader Georgi Dimitrov made in co-production between Bulgaria, the GDR and the Soviet Union .

She has received several national awards as Honored Artist (1967), People's Artist (1974) and the Dimitrov Prize (1986). In the television show Welikite Balgari , Kokanova was voted 62nd among the largest Bulgarians by Bulgarian television viewers in 2006.
