Newton Mearns ( Scottish Gaelic : Baile Ùr na Maoirne , "New Town in the Bailiwick") is a town about eleven kilometers southwest of Glasgow . It has 24,234 inhabitants and is 410 meters above sea level. The city is part of the Greater Glasgow Metropolitan Settlement Area in East Renfrewshire .
