The Next Liberty is a children's and youth theater in the first district of Graz, Innere Stadt . With over 65,000 spectators and more than 200 performances per season, it is one of the five most successful in the German-speaking region. The company belongs to the Theaterholding Graz.

history

In 1995 the Vereinigte Bühnen Graz opened its own theater for children and youth theater in the former Thalia next to the Graz Opera . The name comes from the location next to the lightsaber , a modern steel sculpture by Hartmut Skerbisch , which is modeled on the New York Statue of Liberty (Lady Liberty). In 2011, the construction of a fitness center in the Thalia building began, which is why gaming operations for the 2011/12 season had to be relocated to the Graz city hall . The city had to bear the rental costs. The office and stage have been back in the main building since 2013.

program

The program focuses on children's and youth pieces that are produced by a permanent ensemble. Some of the plays are performed on other theatrical stages. They will be shown throughout Austria and in South Tyrol as part of Next Liberty on Tour .
