Nexteer Automotive is a US automotive supplier based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It has been wholly owned by the Chinese company Pacific Century Motors and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 2010 .

The company develops and produces steering and drive components for the automotive industry. With over 13,000 employees and 28 production plants, it is one of the 100 largest automotive suppliers worldwide and number four in the steering sector.

history

Nexteer goes back to Jackson, Wilcox and Church , founded in Saginaw , Michigan in 1906 . In 1909 the company was bought by the Buick Motor Company , and then incorporated into the parent company General Motors .

In 1995 the divisions within the General Motors Group were transferred to Delphi Automotive Systems, which were later spun off from General Motors and acted as an independent company. In 2009 General Motors bought back the volumes and founded the company Nexteer. In the following year 2010, Nexteer was then sold to the Chinese company Pacific Century Motors (PCM). The company has been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 2013.

Locations

The company's headquarters have been in Auburn Hills, Michigan, since 2015. The company operates 28 production sites in America, Europe and Asia worldwide.

In Germany, Nexteer employs around 50 people (2016) in Rüsselsheim and Munich .

Products

The product portfolio includes systems and components for the drive train. This includes in particular active steering systems , electric and hydraulic steering systems and steering columns . Nexteer is one of the hundred largest suppliers to the automotive industry worldwide.

Partnerships

In 2017 founded Nexteer CNXMotion , a joint venture with automotive supplier Continental in the field of steering / braking systems. In this cooperation, systems and components for autonomous driving are to be jointly developed.

In the same year the company announced a strategic partnership with the US company WABCO .
